Advanced first aid

Training objectives :

    • Understand the Chain of Survival concept.
    • Ensure immediate and appropriate scene safety and protection.
    • Remove a victim from a real, life-threatening, immediate, and uncontrollable hazard using various techniques: ankle drag, wrist drag, underarm drag, or clothing drag.
    • Communicate an effective emergency alert to emergency medical services.
    • Provide immediate care for a choking victim: back blows and abdominal thrusts for adults, and chest compressions for infants.
    • Perform essential first aid actions for victims experiencing severe bleeding (direct manual pressure or pressure dressing), vomiting blood, or nosebleeds.
    • Maintain a clear airway in an unconscious, breathing person by placing them in the Recovery Position while awaiting emergency teams.
    • Respond appropriately to a person showing signs of medical distress (e.g., chest pain, hypoglycemia, respiratory difficulty, sensory or motor disorders).
    • Assess an unresponsive individual and recognize cardiac arrest (CA).
    • Perform high-quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), including chest compressions and rescue breaths.
    • Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively.
    • Gas inhalation – Oxygen therapy: Identify and manage toxic gas exposure using appropriate oxygen administration techniques.
    • Wound management: Clean, protect, and treat wounds based on severity and contamination.
    • Burn management: Apply appropriate first aid for thermal, chemical, or sunburns to prevent complications.
    • Isolated cervical spine trauma: Stabilize cervical spine injuries using an appropriate cervical collar.
    • Limb immobilization: Immobilize fractured or dislocated limbs using splints or improvised methods.
    • Polytrauma and complex trauma: Provide full spinal immobilization using devices such as a vacuum mattress or spinal board.
    • Apply ergonomic and safe lifting techniques when handling or repositioning a casualty.
    • Perform stretcher handling techniques using various types of stretchers for coordinated and safe victim transport.
    • Participate in complex emergency simulations (realistic scenarios) to refine life-saving actions in high-pressure contexts.
    •
